Who we are
South Texas Chess Associates (STCA) is the home for Chess Training and Open Tournaments in the Coastal Bend Area of South Texas. We work very closely with the Optimist Coastal Bend Chess Federation. (OCBCF) OCBCF maintains a focus on Scholastic Chess in one of the most active areas of the country for Scholastic Chess. We work with Region VII Chess. We also work with Region VIII Chess whenever possible and would like to work with chess groups in San Antonio. We seek to provide training for students as well as Open tournaments designed to give adults an opportunity to play and "toughen up" scholastic players.
We provide information on tournaments throughout the South Texas area (From San Antonio to the Rio Grande Valley) as long as we are informed. STCA provides a full range of books and equipment for players of all ages. If you don't see it, I can work to get it. We work with schools to help them get the best prices for large orders or raise funds selling books and/or equipment to their students.
